October 16, 2021 Session "African vector of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation"

On October 14-16, MGIMO Russian Foreign Ministry hosted XIII Convention Russian Association for International Studies (RAMI) "To the 30th anniversary of the foreign policy of the new Russia"

The Convention was attended by about 2000 leading scientists, experts, government officials and the corporate sector from Russia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Great Britain, Greece, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, USA, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, France, ASEAN countries and Latin America.

On October 16, 2021, within the framework of the XIII Convention of the Russian Association for International Studies, the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences held a special session "The African vector of the Russian Federation's foreign policy" , combined with the 4th meeting of the Scientific Council at the Secretariat of the Partnership Forum Russia - Africa, chaired by the Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the RAS Presidium, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor I.O. Abramova .

The participants discussed the possibilities of overcoming the emerging obstacles to the development of Russian-African relations. In particular, the issues of the absence of a mechanism for economic cooperation with the countries of the continent, counteraction to the growth of Russia's influence in Africa on the part of global players, the peculiarities of the formation of the image of Africa in Russia and Russia in Africa were touched upon. In addition, the participants discussed the difficulties caused by the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, as well as coups and their consequences.
