"GENDER ASPECTS OF AFRICAN CULTURE: BETWEEN ARCHAIC AND PRESENT"

On November 17, 2021, at the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (on-line and off-line platforms), a scientific conference “Gender Aspects of African Culture: Between the Archaic and the Present” was held, organized by the Gender Research Group jointly with the Center for Sociological and Political Science Research and with the participation of the Center history and cultural anthropology of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference was another scientific event held in a similar organizational structure over the past three years - in the fall of 2019, a round table "New trends in the study of Africa (historical, anthropological and gender aspects)" was held. This practice of the institute's scientific community has justified itself. And now, two years later, African gender themes, now in a historical and cultural aspect, have successfully sounded at the new Africanist gender conference, which brought together specialists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, and Cote d'Ivoire.

At the conference, reports were made by Africanist and Orientalist scientists, specialists in history, anthropology, political science, sociology, devoted to the study of the historical, cultural and gender aspects of the development of African countries and peoples. The topics of the research proposed for discussion and the subsequent discussion in many ways highlighted many aspects of the unusually diverse and unique culture of African countries.

The organizing committee of the conference thanks all its participants for their active creative work and reminds that the results of the conference are planned to be published in the form of a collective monograph.
