On November 23, 2021, within the framework of the “Culture and Society” seminar at the Center for History and Cultural Anthropology, Natalia Alexandrovna Zherlitsyna made a report “On the history of the capture of Algeria by France in 1930”. The issue of the capture of Algeria by France in 1830, its reasons and goals - is still debated and provoking public debate and scientific controversy. The report analyzes the reasons that prompted France to resort to the seizure of the Algerian regency in 1830 and the role of the Algerian authorities in the country's loss of independence, which underestimated the threat hanging over them. The occupation of the Maghreb state became a precedent that marked the beginning of the colonial era in Africa.
