The All-Russian Scientific Conference with International Participation “Africa: from Colonialism to Postcolonialism (The Chronotope of the Crossroads)” was held at P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University. The event was attended by representatives of leading Russian centres of African studies, including the members of the Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Within the framework of a series of plenary sessions in person and online, the reports were presented by Natalia Zherlitsyna, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Africa of the RAS (topic of the presentation “Anti-colonial resistance in Algeria in the early 20th century through the eyes of diplomats of the Russian Empire”); Valentina Gribanova, the Head of the Centre for History and Cultural Anthropology (“European countries' strategy of education in Africa: neo-colonialism or human development?”); Denis Degterev, Principal Research Fellow (“Critical Analysis of Economic Neo-colonialism in Modern Economic Science”); Tatiana Denisova, the Head of the Centre for the Study of Sub-Saharan Africa (“Anti-Colonial Movements in West Africa in the First Third of the 20th Century”); Irina Tatarovskaya, Senior Research Fellow (“Language policy of Belgian and French colonial authorities in Central Africa (on the example of the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic)”); Nadezhda Khokholkova, Senior Research Fellow (“Decolonization of Cultural Heritage: Between Revalorization and Restitution”).
