On June 25, Anastasia A. Banshchikova delivered a presentation "Colonial Painting in German East Africa: Artistic Representations of Social Hierarchies" within the framework of the research seminar "Culture and Society". The report examined the works of artists Wilhelm Kuhnert, Rudolf Hellgrewe, Richard Duschek, and Fritz Grotemeyer, with a focus on colonial social hierarchies reflected in their composition, poses of characters, and details. Examples from other genres, such as colonial photography and propaganda postcards, were also considered for comparison.
