Conference Announcement
On April 1 and 2, 2026, the Centre of the Russian-African Relations and African States' Foreign Policy will hold a scientific conference on the topic “Problems of Africa: African Solutions and the Role of External Assistance”. Two groups of issues are on the agenda of the conference.
The in-person section on April 1, which will begin at 11 a.m. (Moscow time) in the conference hall of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will focus on a wide range of issues currently facing the African continent, as well as the measures taken by individual countries, regional organizations/regional blocs of Africa, and pan-African institutions to address these challenges. The conference will analyze the causes of African problems, their dynamics, and prospects for their resolution.
The online section on April 2, which will begin at 11 a.m. (Moscow time), will explore the role of external actors, including international organizations, extra-continental regional integration blocs, global, regional, and other powers involved in the resolution of the problems facing African countries, as well as the motivations, forms, and extent of their involvement in this process.
The conference is expected to result in the publication of a collective monograph in 2027. Please send your applications for participation in the conference and abstracts of your presentations, which should include a brief summary (not exceeding 3,000 characters) of the main ideas of your report, to the conference organizers at aleksandrzhambikov@gmail.com by March 4, 2026.
