Presidential Election in the Republic of the Congo (March 2026)

On March 15, 2026, the presidential election in the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) was held. Incumbent President Denis Sassou Nguesso won a landslide victory in the first round of voting, garnering 94.9% of the vote with a turnout of 84.65%. In a country with a population of 6.6 million, 3,167,909 voters were registered, and 6,620 polling stations were set up. On March 28, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of the Congo validated the official election results. Thus, in the 2026 presidential elections, D. Sassou Nguesso was re-elected for a fifth consecutive term, extending his presidential powers until 2031.
