17th International African Studies Conference
(Moscow, Russia, 26–28 May 2027)
Second Announcement and Call for Abstracts
Dear Colleagues,
The Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences will hold the 17th African Studies Conference, entitled “Africa: Restoring Historical Justice and Achieving Genuine Sovereignty”, in Moscow on 26–28 May 2027.
The Conference will be held exclusively in person, with no option for online participation. The working languages of the Conference are Russian and English. A list of the Conference’s priority topics is provided below.
Please submit your application to the Organizing Committee at iafr-ras300@inafr.ru by 30 December 2026.
The application is to include as follows: the abstract (within 300 words in English or both English and Russian), the author(s)’ full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), full mail and e-mail addresses, telephone number.
The authors of the applications will be notified of their acceptance or rejection by the Organizing Committee no later than January 25, 2027 by e-mail. If your proposal is accepted and you require a visa to enter Russia, the Organizing Committee will send you, in early 2027, a list of the documents required to support your visa application at a Russian embassy or consulate.
There is no registration fee. Please note, however, that the Organizing Committee is unable to provide financial support for Conference participants. The Organizing Committee can offer advice on accommodation bookings at inter.inafr@mail.ru, but participants are responsible for making their own reservations. Early booking is strongly recommended.
