On May 16, 2023, the faculty of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences took part in the expert round table "Information and image support of Russian-African relations: problems and prospects", organized by the Russian International Affairs Council.


At the session “Problems of changing the image of Russia in Africa: tools and approaches”, Veronika Usacheva, Ph.D. in Political Science, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for History and Cultural Anthropology of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, made a report “The image of Russia in Africa as a means of soft power : main challenges and promotion potential”; Elena Kharitonova, Ph.D. in Psychology, Associate Professor, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Civilizational and Regional Studies of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIAC expert with a report “Russian business in Africa as a factor in shaping the image of Russia”; Valentina Gribanova, Ph.D. in History, Senior Research Fellow, Head of the Centre for History and Cultural Anthropology of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the report “Russian Cooperation in the Field of Education with African Countries: Problems and Prospects of Educational Diplomacy”; Olga Kulkova, Ph.D. in History, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Russian-African Relations and African Foreign Policy of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences with a report “The Russian Orthodox Church in Africa as a Factor of Russian Soft Power on the Continent”, Naima Neflyasheva, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Civilizational and Regional Studies of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the report "Caucasian diasporas in Sudan and Egypt: history of formation and opportunities for interaction."
