On May 16, 2023 Tatyana Denisova took part in the conference "Russia and the World: Dialogues - 2023. Goals and Values"

Head of the Center for Tropical African Countries, Institute for African Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. in History Tatyana Denisova spoke at the plenary session of the 7th International Scientific and Practical Conference "Russia and the World: Dialogues - 2023. Goals and Values", which is organized by the National Research Institute for the Development of Communications (NRIDC). The event was attended by experts from 22 countries.

According to Tatyana Denisova, the issues of Russian-African relations are extremely topical, since the two sides have common goals and objectives. Today, many African countries are beginning to consider Russia as a partner, partly because there is still a generation of Africans who remember the support of the USSR in their struggle for independence.

“We are interested in building a just multipolar world. We and Africans have unique resources, so we have a huge impact on the global economy. We need to act as partners, not competitors. In addition, Russia and Africa are at the crossroads of the most important trade routes connecting countries and continents,” Denisova said.

African countries, according to the expert, can become profitable trade partners of the Russian Federation, although today Russia is inferior in terms of trade to the EU and China.

Russia builds its contacts with African countries on principles that are opposed to Western ones and formulated in the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation, which states that Russia will expand diverse interaction with African states, taking into account their interests.
